What the Screening checks
Seven quick questions. Five of them are scored Red, Amber or Green across the areas buyers check before they ever read your price, worth 80 points in total. The other two (your company size and how confident you feel about bidding) put your results in context and aren’t scored. The weightings reflect how likely each area is to rule you out at the first gate, not how a buyer weights it in a tender. Cyber, insurance and certifications are often pass-or-fail, which is why they carry more weight here.
- Cyber & Data Security (25%, 20 points): Whether you hold Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus, now required on many central government contracts that handle personal data, and whether your UK GDPR records would stand up to a request.
- Insurance & Financial Standing (20%, 16 points): Whether your cover meets typical tender minimums, and whether your accounts clear the turnover thresholds buyers set.
- Standards & Quality (20%, 16 points): ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and the other certifications buyers use as a risk filter.
- Track Record & Bid Capability (20%, 16 points): Relevant contracts and case studies you can actually evidence, and how well you put a bid together.
- Social Value & Responsible Business (15%, 12 points): In a tender, social value is typically worth 10% to 20% of the score: at least 10% on central government contracts under PPN 002, and up to 20% at Essex County Council. This also covers modern slavery, carbon reduction and the published policies buyers check before they read your bid.
Common questions
Is the Bid & Tender Readiness Screening free?
Yes. It is completely free, takes about two minutes and there is no obligation. If it shows gaps you want fixed, the next step is a paid Comprehensive Health Assessment, but that is entirely your call.
What do I get at the end?
An overall readiness score, a Red-Amber-Green rating for each area buyers check, and an email with your detailed results explaining what buyers expect in each area and why it matters for winning tenders.
Who is the Screening for?
Owner-managed and mid-sized UK manufacturers, typically with 10 to 500 staff, who bid or want to bid for public sector, NHS, defence, local authority, OEM or Tier-1 supply chain contracts.
What happens to my details?
We use your name, email and company details to send your results and occasional relevant insights, and hold them in our CRM. You can unsubscribe at any time. Our privacy policy explains exactly how your data is handled.
